Upholding the Law:

  • In this article,The Chinese ambassador to India Sun Weidong tries to explain the ongoing HongKong protests and China’s resolve to maintain stability and prosperity of HongKong
  • The HongKong protests have turned to Violent methods and violent protests are no means a matter of democracy or freedom

  • There seems to External meddling in fueling Hong Kong protests which is evident from radical acts of defacing Chinese government symbols , this coupled with double standards of Western media which portray only the action taken by Hong Kong police force but miss out the violent actions of protestors.
  • One country two system policy & sovereignty of China over Hong Kong is unquestionable.The Chinese government has a strong resolve to maintain stability and prosperity of Hong Kong
  • Democracy and freedom without rule of law and order would only lead to anarchism and social disorder
  • Central Government of China fully supports the chief executive of Hong Kong Carrie Lam and the common citizens efforts to enforce rule of law in Hong kong and to ensure stability and prosperity of Hong kong

The Pak muddle

  • Ever since article 370 special status on Kashmir was abrogated,Pakistan has been trying to take up the issue of Kashmir at international fora
  • Although a closed door discussion of UNSC was conducted on Kashmir issue ,the world nations except few countries endorses India's view on Kashmir that Kashmir is a bilateral issue
  • The efforts of Pakistan at the best cater to its domestic audience,three generations of which has been nurtured on the rhetoric of Kashmir as the country's jugular vein
  • The warmongering , nuclear catastrophe peddling has worked little in attracting international attention

  • Pakistan is also aware of consequences of unleashing the Jihad terrorism strategy ,Post Balakot attack
  • Although Pakistan's response to India’s decision to revoke Kashmir's special status ( purely an internal matter of India) has been hot and cold , New Delhi must keep watching as Pakistan responses are still evolving

Reaching out to Europe

  • With global power structures undergoing paradigm shift , Indo-pacific and Eurasia region are fast becoming regions of strategic importance
  • While Russia and China see Indo-Pacific strategy as a move to contain China and the Americans believe the Eurasian strategy is about Sino-Russian design to marginalize the US in the continental space,India has to carefully maneuver its diplomacy between these two strategies,and so far Indian diplomacy has worked well.
  • India may find Europe as the right partner in overcoming the presumed tension between the two concepts.External Affairs Minister Jaishankar’s visit to Moscow,Warsaw and Brussels in the last few days underlines the growing Importance that India attaches to Europe
  • Reconciliation attempts by European countries and Russia over issue of Crimea annexation ,if fructifies will be beneficial to India,as India attaches great importance to all the parties involved .

  • Similarly When it comes to Indo pacific,European states such as France a resident power in India ocean is also eager to work with India and other Indian Ocean littoral states to ensure freedom of navigation amidst emerging Chinese hegemony in Indo-Pacific.
  • In the trade front , where the multilateral free trade is recently under strain due to tariff war between US and China ,India is likely to work with France and Japan’s initiative to save global trading system
  • A multilateral world order is conducive for India’s growth and world peace, in this regard ,India is likely to engage with Germany’s initiative of “Alliance for Multilateral-ism” which aims to protect international institutions and global rules based order
  • In addition to this ,there are still unexplored opportunities for India in Europe, especially in the central Europe region and Eurasia.
